Introducing Power Slider Case for iPhone 3G

Power Slider

Available this holiday season, Power Slider is the first accessory of its kind to more than double the battery life of iPhone 3G while providing integrated sync and charge capabilities and complete device protection. With its innovative functionality as both a case and power solution, Power Slider is perfect for the growing community of iPhone 3G users who are app happy or game crazy and find themselves in need of extra power.

A custom engineered lithium-ion polymer battery with efficient circuitry was created specifically for Power Slider to allow for a slim design and maximum power output. The optimized power management system provides continuous charge to the internal battery of iPhone 3G. When in use, power drains first from Power Slider so that the device’s internal battery remains fully charged and is only depleted once the battery of Power Slider has been drained.

Power Slider Bottom

An integrated sync mode allows Power Slider users to easily sync and charge their devices while iPhone 3G is in Power Slider. A five-light LED battery status indicator gauges battery life and also denotes sync mode and charging. Included with every Power Slider is a custom USB 2.2 cable that allows for high capacity charging and data exchange for optimal charging and syncing. Additionally, Power Slider is compatible with all USB charging ports that provide 5V at 1A output.

The design of Power Slider is an evolution of our best-selling Slider Case. With its low profile, complementary design, Power Slider maintains the durable, lightweight hardshell construction of the Slider Case and features soft-touch coating for added grip and durability.

Power Slider Top

Power Slider provides the best in hardshell protection and extended battery life for iPhone 3G. Certified by the Apple® “Works with iPhone” program, Power Slider been designed to connect specifically to iPhone 3G and meet Apple’s performance standards.

  1. I’m looking forward to getting the Power Slider! I love my iPhone, but it often comes up a bit short on battery time when I’m on the web. The Power Slider looks like it will give me exactly the boost I need.

Wow I need 4 of these, one for everyone in my family!! Is it cheaper if I buy in bulk?? Different colors maybe??

  15. I’ve written to Incase without a reply as yet.
It appears that the only way to charge is via USB cord connected to a USB port on a computer.
Do you guys see it that way too ?

I can’t decide between this and the Morphie case.
The Icase is a seamless fit and I like the idea of it being a case but if tethered to a USB port it looses part of the appeal to me.

  16. The answer is yes, can charge either way bought my Incase at the apple store today on sale for $81.

  17. Picked one of these up yesterday. It says charge full before use so i charged it….when i saw all 5 lights (after about 3-4 hours) i unplugged it and it went straight to 4 lights :-\ anyone else experiencing the same thing? is it only suppose to have 4 when unplugged? the fifth being for syncing? anybody? lol

  18. I just received my “slider” today. Sleek, nice fit, and is rapidly charging via my USB computer connection. The only question that I thought of, is given my frequent traveling, I need multiple platforms for recharging.

So the USB works on my computer, and AC adaptor outlet from the iPhone – check.
Ok, so I just purchased a USB AC Car adaptor on e-bay for a couple of dollars – check.

Now the remaining question, knowing I tend to misplace things on the fly, and always believing in redundancy access for power — how do I purchase separately, just the customized cables?

Would like one in my travel bag, as well as car and desk top.

  19. Can you use a regular USB standard-to-mini cable to recharge? The cable supplied with the unit is way too short. Why is is it “very important” to fully charge the slider battery before inserting the IPhone?

  20. @geep: You may be able to use another mini-USB cable, but because of the variations in quality and efficiency of the number of products available, we highly recommend using the one provided. Our cable has been tested to ensure it works with Power Slider.

It is important to fully charge your Power Slider to make sure that your unit is charging properly and to ensure that you get maximum output. If your unit is not charged you may have problems syncing with
    iTunes.

  21. PLEASE Make power slider for the first gen iPhone!!!

    What a dud!

I doubt very much this e mail will see the light of day . . . as you have clearly selling a badly
defective product! I’ve had TWO and both are defective. Man, that no coincidence! The first
was defective right out of the box and would not hold a charge. The second, it lasted just over
three weeks and it will not hold a charge – in fact it wont even charge to the first blue light. No
    blue lights at all.

I’m going to my local Apple store tomorrow a raise hell. I bet I’m not the only one either . .

  23. I have a power slider for a backup when my battery is low. This product will not hold a charge! I can keep it at home, and within three days the battery is dead! Without being on my iPhone, it just drains the battery sitting on my desk! It has not been left in extreme heat, like in the sun or in my car. I think there should be a recall for all the defective ones sold. Apple store will not take it back because it was purchased online. It seems I’m out of a $100……. Also, where’s the support page for InCase? I know they just sell cases, but if they want to get into higher technology, like batteries, they should have some sort of online support.. at least a contact number so I can check to see if I was doing something wrong or advice on if I should return the product.

  24. @Jeremy: Our contact information can be found in the footer (on any page of our site). Here’s the direct link just in case: http://goincase.com/contact/

  25. I totally agree with the special dock. I get annoyed having to look for the cord on the floor every time.

I just purchased an iPhone 3Gs, only to discover that my Power Slider does not charge the iPhone! The message appearing is “charging is not supported by this accessory”. OK, is there any “fix” for this situation, or do I simply throw the Power Slider in the trash?

    Please respond.

    Thank you.

  27. @richard: Please contact our consumer support at 1-888-283-8288

  28. How does this product compare to SaFPWR / Sigfx Energy / Smart Battery Case for iphone? Are you using their technology, or is your technology different?

  29. power slider refuses to sync with i tunes on windows vista pc ,WHY ????

  30. Asking a question that has already been asked….will you sell the usb cord as a seperate item?
a regular mini usb does NOT fit into the Slider. would love an extra one in my travel bag, car, home, work, etc…..

  31. @PDXPete: Call our consumer support (1-8880-283-8288) and they will hook you up with a new cable.

I was having a problem with my InCase Power Slider where I would get down to 3 lights on the battery charge on the back and then my iPhone would no longer show that it was charging from the case. Additionally, I would no longer be able to get on the 3G network and only the Edge network.
I think I have found the problem because as soon as I removed the BatteryLife (V1.1) from the iPhone I no longer had any issues.
Hope this helps someone else! :)

  33. where can i buy this power slider. cound not find it on the site.

  34. does anyone else have reception issues while using their slider?

  35. “does anyone else have reception issues while using their slider?”

YES!!! I noticed this last night when I got no signal, yet the people around me with iphones were talking on their phones, texting, emailing, etc. After I took the phone out of the battery case, viola, I had strong signal within 30 seconds.

I expect that due to the signal/reception interference this thing causes it reduces the life of battery pack and the internal battery of the phone itself. With a fully charged battery pack and iphone, the pack will maybe last 9 hours. This is with ONLY Edge on, no wifi, no bluetooth, 3G off, location services OFF, minimal phone usage (next to none). I do have push email going from 2 acct’s.

While I can’t prove it, I think it even burned out my wifi card on the phone as it stopped working soon after I started using it.

Prior to the battery pack I could go at least 24 hours just on the iphone battery with this same setup.
Battery life is no where near what I expected of a case that nearly doubles the size of the phone.

  36. I put it on my 3GS and within 3 seconds lose signal, take it off and I get full service back. Did I get the wrong model or am I getting shafted by an inferior product?

  37. I lost the charger… where can i purchase just the that ? THE WIRE

  38. Just bought the case for 3Gs 32GB, loved the case untill i lost ALL SERVICE. called apple support and they told me to return it….. great job, what good is double battery life if you cant use the phone… im returning it tomorrow… seems to be a known issue and no one can explain why or why they are selling it still knowing it kills the phone

  39. Looks like INCase has DISCONTINUED this item. Cannot find it on their site any longer when searching for products.

And a DARN GOOD THING at that. I searched far and wide for a holster style CASE to fit this and finally found one. I had recently switched to ATT from Verizon because I HAD TO HAVE an IPhone. I was beginning to think all the DROPPED CALLS were due to ATT having SUCKY SERVICE – but when I’m laying in bed on the phone, with 5 bars – and then spontaneously DROPS CALLS (and also gets real poor incoming audio), then take the SLIDER OFF and the phone works LIKE A CHAMP – it has the to be SLIDERS FAULT.

I assume INCase will do NOTHING to rectify the issue, since in recognition of all the COMPLAINTS regarding dropped calls – it appears they have DROPPED THE PRODUCT. Can anyone say CLASS ACTION SUIT? I wonder how many of these were SOLD and are UN-RETURNABLE – since we’ve all probably thrown away the packaging and reciepts.

It’s a CRYING SHAME as the fit and feel of the unit, the additional protection it affords the phone, and not least the ADDITIONAL BATTERY LIFE – WOULD HAVE MADE THE EXPENSIVE COST of it COMPLETELY WORTHWHILE.

Too bad the DROPPED CALL ISSUES make what could have been a SMASH HIT of a product – a POS you just want to SMASH AGAINST THE WALL. OTOH – I hear the competitors product (called a “Mophie”) suffers from the same issue.

I mean REALLY you guys that designed this. If the phones ANTENNA is on the BACK OF THE PHONE and you stick a LARGE METAL ENCASED BATTERY all the way along the back of the phones case and NOT EXPECT DROPPED CALLS?

    Rick

  40. Man I wish I would have researched this a little more. This case works as advertised but the draw back is you loose all signal. I have wifi available everywhere at work and the most I get is 1-2 bars. As I type this post I am sitting right next to my home wifi hub and still only get 2 bars and the phone signal is also only 2 bars. WTF chuck. Phone signal is non existant most of the time with the case installed. Once the case is off the phone works like a charm without any large dead zones. Luckily I only paid 38 bucks for mine so it isn’t a huge lose to me. Now I have to find something else that allows the phone to work while installed. No wonder they dropped this product like a hot potato!! Thanks incase for standing behind your product. I cannot return it because like most people I have long since thrown out the trash with all the “required claim info and packaging” now I have a great battery back up when I don’t need to use my phone.

I just bought the Incase Power Slider and am not able to charge while the iPhone is paired with the Slider. I’m getting a message on my iPhone saying “charging is not supported by this accessory”. Am I doing something wrong or is the Slider not compatible with 3GS? I’m able to Sync with not issue.

  42. I purchased Morphie incase two weeks ago. I am a physician that uses my iphone for all of my communications. Since placing my iphone in this case my reception in my home which was normally 3-5 bars now says no service and if lucky 1 bar. I need my iphone to receive life and death phone calls from patients and the intensive care unit . I would just take it off but when I try to use the normal charging adapter that comes with the iphone I get a message that this “adapter is not supported!!!! HELP!!!!

  43. I bought this from Best Buy, since it was open box, they had a price of $72.99 from 79.99, I got them to take the price down to 59.99

I am very skeptical of phones, cases, and any other accessories in the past. I went through 4 different cases within the fist two weeks including the OtterBox. Then I went to this and I would never think about going to another case.

This product has been unbelievably glitchy since I got it. After the first few weeks I started to see the incase battery drain by 2 lites after only an hour of minimal to no use. After two months I suddenly lost sync ability. I’d press and hold the sync button only to have the incase battery turn off then on, not allowing a connection with my 3GS. Just a few days ago I plugged the incase in to charge it up and my iPhone now says the accessory cannot be used, that all of a sudden there’s a compatibility issue. Don’t even get me started on the poor reception with both 3G and WiFi. Unbelievable. Terrible product from an unethical company that refuses to take care of its customers. Thanks for stealing my money, incase. Bunch of frauds.

These are really some amazing piece of pictures. I liked them and am sure anybody else will like them as well. I have used some of these previously and I believe getting the signal correctly is a big problem for some cases.

I purchased your power slider in mid July and it stopped working in mid October. I took it back to Best Buy and they would not make good on it. They claim they don’t carry the product any longer and they totally blew me off. What’s up with that?

  47. Although the Power Slider for iPhone 3G is a discontinued product we are still able to provide support for any problems that you may be having. Please contact our consumer support department at 1-888-283-8288 or fill out our claim form.
