10 Reasons Why Reeder App Rules

 title=

Our Web Designer, Nic, subscribes to a ton of sites and loves reading their RSS feeds via an awesome iPhone app called Reeder. Here are his 10 reasons why it rules.

  1. Syncs with Google Reader.
  2. Ability to use offline.
  3. Caches images for offline reading.
  4. Rich yet very unobtrusive UI.
  5. Customizable services panels (save to Delicious, Twitter, Instapaper, etc).
  6. Ability to read a post with Instapaper or Google mobilizer for a cleaner, simplified experience.
  7. You can tell it how far back you want it to sync, days or months.
  8. When I get into the office from my commute into the city, Google Reader is all synced.
  9. To mark an item as read in list view, you just slide it to the right. Sliding it to the left stars it.
  10. When reading a post, you can either flip to the post before or after or use the next or previous buttons.

What is your favorite RSS reader for iPhone or iPad? And have you subscribed to the Incase RSS feed yet?

Swimming With Sharks Opening Event This Weekend

This summer, Matt Goldman at MFG Productions and James Rockwell are once again teaming up with Incase to bring you the Swimming With Sharks pool parties atop the Standard Hotel in radiantly beautiful Downtown Los Angeles.

Beginning Saturday, May 29th, from now through September, you and your best friends & worst enemies can hotly bop around in banana hammocks and barely there bikinis while blasting one another with squirt-guns and bottled water while your ex-girlfriends and ex-boyfriends insanely mad dog each other from behind gaudy BCBG shades. What?! Yeah, pretty much. Mayhem, debauchery, laughter, joy, photographers, (to help make you “Internet famous“), international guest DJs blasting 192 bpm, and finally, a dozen superhuman-sized bouncers to keep the tender vibes semi-mellow.

As far as LA pool parties go, it doesn’t get much more foot loose and fancy free than idling your easy breezy Saturdays away, sipping poolside bevies at the Downtown Standard… all summer long. Bikini babes? Bronzed bros? Bad puns? Worst blog copy ever? You be the judge!

From 1PM to sundown, Incase will be at Swimming With Sharks doing our part to help folks have a bit of fun this summer. You bring the sunscreen, flippy floppies, noise and fits of spastic splashing, and we’ll bring the protection for your iPhones. Deal. RSVP at danceright.net. We hope to see you there!

BBQ Blowout #1 Event Recap

This past Wednesday, Finger On The Pulse threw their first BBQ of the summer season. Here’s FOTP co-owner Greg Bresnitz with a recap.

 title=

The first BBQ of the year featured one of the most memorable dishes since our inception. Roberta’s jerk chicken and the accompanying spice had people experiencing a new form of heat and questioning the distance they could go to endure the delicious and spicy combo.

 title=

Good thing the sweet tunes provided by Modular Records were able act as a salve for the ears. To be honest, the cheep beers from Good Co helped as well. Shout out to New York magazine for helping to bring out a great crowd who snapped up the Incase cases in record time. Check out the photos from the event.

We look forward to seeing everyone on June 16th with Not Eating Out In NY and Freelance Whales.

Highlights from MASH Opening Reception at Project Space

 title=

A big thanks to all who came out to the opening reception for the MASH exhibition at Project Space. It was a beautiful, sunny L.A. day and the fixed gear community represented in full to see and celebrate the accomplishments of the MASH team during the 2009 Tour of California.

 title=

MASH rider Walton Brush came in first in the fixed-gear only race from Echo Park to Project Space that preceded the event. The short jaunt was a proverbial walk in the park compared to the 750-mile course he journeyed as a barely-legal rider with MASH on the 2009 Tour.

 title=

The event also hosted the premiere of a new 12-minute video short of footage and reflections from the MASH team during the 2009 Tour. The crowd grew steadily over the course of the evening, taking time to socialize, revisit the MASH journey through the photographs and displays and enjoy giveaways courtesy of MASH, Incase and Arkitip.

 title=

All in all, it was a night of good times filled with a true sense of community. We hope you all enjoyed the event as much as we did. Check out all the photos in this Flickr set.

The MASH installation will be on display at Project Space through June 6.

MASH Exhibition at Project Space

 title=

Last year, Incase sponsored the MASH team when they embarked on their uniquely subversive journey to crash the 2009 edition of the Tour of California on their track bikes. For nine days, MASH team riders ascended on the same .750-mile course as international cycling teams on bikes with one gear and no brakes, battling the horrendous rains and traversing some of the steepest hills in California.

 title=

A little more than one year later, Project Space is proud to host with MASH a special exhibition entitled “Revisit MASH Tour of California,” a retrospective on their incredible journey during the 2009 Tour of California. The Project Space installation will showcase documentation from the MASH experience, including a new short film and behind-the-scenes photography, and a display of artifacts from the tour, such as road-worn bicycles, a torn kit from the 2009 Tour and more.

The opening reception for the MASH exhibition will take place Saturday, May 22, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Preceding the opening reception is the MASH-organized fixed gear only race from Echo Park, coincidentally timed with Stage 7 of the 2010 Tour of California. The race will finish at Project Space, culminating with an awards ceremony during the exhibition’s opening reception.

Summer BBQ Blowout #1

We’re SUPER EXCITED to announce Incase is again sponsoring the Finger On The Pulse BBQ Blowout series in Brooklyn this summer.

The production duo of twin brothers Greg & Darin Bresnitz has fast become legendary for pairing New York City’s finest chefs with internationally acclaimed artists and record labels for monthly mid-week nights of messy food and mind bending beats.

BBQ #1 happens this Wednesday, May 19th at Good Company (10 Hope St.) and features the culinary masterstrokes of Roberta’s chef Carlo Mirarchi. Modular Recordings artists DJ North and Barbara Vegas crush grooves until 11PM. Get there early and stay late. Maybe bring a bib and moist towelettes, you’re gonna need ‘em.

Incase will be on hand gifting a massive array of fun, colorful Slider & Snap Cases for your iPhone 3GS. We hope to see you there.

Five Favorite Words With Friends Moments

 title=

Ah, Words With Friends. With its combination of wordplay, friendly competition and time-killing fun, it’s easy to see why it’s one of the most popular apps for the iPhone and iPad. We asked our copywriter Ross to share his five favorite Words With Friends moments. Here they are.

  1. My wife is Portuguese and, as such, is a big fan of Fado music. It translates as “fate” and is sad, haunting and beautiful at the same time. As is often the case in WWF, I click “Submit” suspecting that a word is not really a word. But this time, I was rewarded with a spinning wheel and 40 points.
  2. One of my biggest scores ever happened to coincide with a word I really like (DERIDES). It means “to ridicule,” which is exactly what my 93-point play did to my opponent. Oops—I mean “to my friend.”
  3. I was playing my good friend Kenny (who usually kills me) and, just as I thought all hope was lost, I played all my letters on TWISTIER for 95 points. (He still beat me.)
  4. The month was April; the year was 2010. The world was transfixed on one thing and one thing only: KFC’s new Double Down Sandwich. Fitting, then, that my friend and I kicked off our game with a perfect representation of this culinary masterpiece. (See the above photo.)
  5. Sometimes, it’s not the word you play that matters, but the message hidden in the tiles you’re given. And yes, “SEEEEXA” is an acceptable variant of “sexy.”

What are some of your favorite WWF moments?
