Swimming With Sharks #2 Was a Blast

 title=

With sets by MAD DECENT’s Paul Devro and Erik Devereux, this past weekend’s Swimming With Sharks pool party at the Standard Hotel Downtown was hectic fun. Squirt guns? Yes. Bikinis? Definitely. Crisp Starter caps? Totally. Piles of guest DJs and hellaciously beat blasting lurker bees? Yes. Flip flops? As always. Guzzlebots? For sure. Digital cameras? Several. Dancing? Mega.

Highlight of the day? Probz the secret guest set by infamous DJ Rusko. His unexpected talk box-meets-dubstep shenanigans was pretty much a total jaw dropper. Incase was on deck lending a hand to the mayhem and gifting cases for your iPhones. Per usual, PEEPS WAS PUMPED! :) Summer is here. We hope you’ll join us in two weeks at the next SWSharks, June 26th. Until then, have fun, be safe, drink water!

UPDATE: Moving pictures!

How Oh No Makes Beats with iElectribe On His iPad

 title=

As part of our ongoing Featured Apps series, we take a closer look at Korg’s iElectribe for iPad. With a four-part percussion synthesizer, 16-step sequencer, 64 preset patterns and more, iElectribe harnesses all the fun of analog synth-style beatmaking.

Stones Throw recording artist Oh No uses up to three iPads at a time to create beats. Here’s what he had to say about the process:

When you look at the iPad, everybody thinks it’s just for books. It’s more than just iBooks; it’s pretty much an everything pad. We used to use the old school Korg1, the SP12. Now you have Reason and MPCs and the iPad, which has everything that [those devices] had, plus more. You can tweak everything…. It’s open. It’s unlimited now.

iElectribe is available now at Apple’s App Store for a special introductory price of $9.99 (regular price: $19.99). Promotional pricing expires June 30, 2010.
