HOMECOMING during NY Fashion Week
HOMECOMING is a week-long pop-up hub for events, programs, performances, socializing and art during New York Fashion Week. Located on a storefront venue on Elizabeth Street in Nolita, one of the most vibrant neighborhoods of Manhattan, HOMECOMING reclaims the physical space of downtown Manhattan, celebrating the intersection of creativity in music, fashion, street, art, literature and film during one of the most exciting weeks of the year.
The HOMECOMING space, designed by acclaimed set designer Peter Klein, will transform daily to accommodate the week’s many activities. During the day, HOMECOMING will serve as a gathering place, providing a space for people to relax between shows, grab some coffee, hang out and have their picture taken by renowned photographer Dan Martensen in an old-fashion style portrait studio. In the evenings, HOMECOMING will host live performances, readings, panels, parties and art shows all curated by Dossier, a New York-based magazine and cultural website.
We’re proud to support this unique space and event during Fashion Week. Stay tuned for updates and photos from our week at HOMECOMING.

Mogwai Film Premier—This Friday!
If you’re in Portland, OR right now you probably already know MFNW began yesterday. The festival runs Sept. 8-12th and features more than 200 artists performing at some 40 venues around the greater Portland metro area (maybe this is an exaggeration? I can’t remember, I’m so tired). ANYWAY, that’s only half the point of this post. Get ready, here comes the other half:
On Friday, Sept. 10th, MFNW and Incase present Mogwai’s Burning at the Bagdad Theater in Portland’s Hawthorne District. As part of our presentation of the film we’ll be on hand eating popcorn and gifting free cases for your iPhone 4 & 3GS. Doors at 6PM, film starts at 7PM. Admission is $5 clams or free with MFNW wristband.

FYF Fest 2010 Was Hot
After eight months of planning and hundreds of hours of heavy lifting, the 7th Annual FYF Fest finally happened this past Labor Day weekend at the LA State Historic Park. Was it hot outside? Terribly! Was it impossibly dusty? Yes! But that didn’t stop over 20,000 confirmed festival attendees from waiting in nearly 3-hour long lines to get in. How were the bands? Great! Festival standouts included Sleep, Big Freedia, Warpaint, Abe Vigoda, The Mountain Goats, Local Natives, OFF!, Unbroken, Cold Cave and Washed Out.
Did we gift piles of free cases for the iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS? It’s true, we did. Were people pumped? They were! A few times almost to the point of tears. (Just ask Incase industrial designer Tim Wall, he came down to survey the scene and instead got a crash course in learning just what it means to spend 12-hours gifting cases to thousands of wildly enthusiastic Incase lovers). He left a changed man. New insights, new memories, new tunes, new friends and new ideas. This is what community organized music & arts festivals are all about.
All jokes aside, we feel tremendously fortunate to work on FYF with our friends each year. It truly requires the efforts of our entire arts & music community to pull this thing off. To Phil and Sean at FYF Productions, Justin at Altamont Apparel, Chris at LA Record, Michael at Videothing.com, Alex at Stories Books & Cafe, and to Kevin and Andy at The Cha Cha Lounge… (among so many others), this festival couldn’t happen without the hard work and goodwill of every one of you. Thank you. And last but not least— to Michelle, Tamarra, Moses, Kelley, and Tim, thanks for braving such heat and lending your hands and ears to so many Incase fans this weekend. We look forward to sponsoring FYF Fest next year. Until then enjoy the FYF Fest 2010 photos on our Flickr stream.
Mogwai Burning Trailer
At the Bagdad Theater on Friday, September 10th, Incase & MFNW will present the new concert documentary Burning by Scottish post-rock giants Mogwai. If you’re at all wondering what this means, we can spell it out in three words: serious rock action. If an instrumental band ever deserved having a full-length concert film made about their live show it would be Mogwai. Bring ear plugs and a quadruple espresso. Doors at 7PM, tickets are $5 clams. For a chance to win film tickets and VIP passes to the festival check: @MUSICFESTNW
Take Me Back to Indian Summer
For the fourth year in a row we’re excited to announce our sponsorship of Portland, Oregon’s MusicFest Northwest (aka MFNW). From September 8-12th this beloved indie music festival will showcase more than 170 international and regional performing artists at a combined 21 venues around the greater Portland area. Between the city’s food, friends, fresh air and legendary music & arts community, MFNW offers the most laid back lurk of any music festival on the west coast. Really, it just feels so nice to be there.

Everybody Out of the Pool!

Seeing as how last week brought the end of our summer BBQ Blow Out series in Brooklyn, it seems only fitting that this weekend marks the end of our Swimming With Sharks pool parties in Los Angeles.
On Saturday, MFG Productions aims to take summer out on a high note with Adam 12, Justin Warfield, Thee Mike B, DJ Pubes, DJ Diabetic (aka Obey’s Shepard Fairey), and the illustrious Mr. Stephanie all spinning records and making a mess of The Standard Hotel’s rooftop pool. These dudes are all old friends so it’s gonna get wild.
Will there be weird games? For certain. Will there be free Snap Cases and piles of team prizes from Incase? Definitely. A photo booth by Tommy B and event photos by The Squid? Totally. Blazing bikinis? Duh. Dudes with muscles? Probably a few. Mustaches? Several. High heels and tattoos? Hundreds. Baby oil and bronzed skin? Surely. Water gun battles? Of course. Jello shots? Ditto. Enormous bouncers? About twelve. Smiles? Always. Come help us beat our bi-coastal blues as we send the summer off with a sip and a splash.
Afterward, maybe go home and take a nap and have a snack, then rejoin us Saturday night for Panda Bear’s headliner set at FYF Fest just two miles away in Los Angeles State Historic Park.
