New Episode: Picture Perfect featuring Vincent Fournier
We are proud to announce the release of the fourth episode of Picture Perfect featuring Vincent Fournier. In this episode, Picture Perfect visits Fournier at his studio in Paris, France where we talk about his unique process, inspirations and distinct style that merges fantasy with reality in photographs of robots, research facilities, otherworldly landscapes and cosmonauts. We then travel with Fournier to Cape Canaveral, Florida as he documents NASA’s Kennedy Space Center prior to the last space shuttle launch.
Born in Burkina Faso, photographer Vincent Fournier spent the majority of his childhood in Brittany, France. Earning degrees in visual arts and sociology at Montpellier, Fournier went on to study at l’Ecole Nationale de la Photographie in Arles. Fournier’s frequent visits to the Palais de la Decouverte Museum of Science as a child planted the seeds for what would become the focus of his work. Fascinated by the magic of machinery, Fournier’s photographs explore humanity’s relationship with technology and attempts at using it to gain an understanding of the world. Staging his subjects in controlled environments, Fournier’s images mix fantasy with reality while introducing an element of futuristic irony.
For his ongoing Space Project, Fournier’s stylized vision is realized at some of the world’s most prominent space centers: Gagarine Cosmonaut Training Center near Moscow (Russia), Mars Desert Research Station in Utah (US), observatories in the Atacama Desert (Chile), and the Guyana Space Center in Kourou (French Guiana). In this episode, we follow Fournier to the NASA Kennedy Space Center. During this long awaited visit, Picture Perfect documents Fournier’s process in finding his unique point of view on-location as he captures the vast expanse of the center and the space shuttles Discovery and Atlantis.
Coming Fall 2011: Incase Audio
We are excited to announce that Incase Audio will launch in Fall 2011 starting with a new line of headphones. A complementary extension of our product offering, the new headphones will reflect our expertise in designing and developing products that provide enhanced mobility and user experience. Employing an integrated development approach we call Incase Soundesign, the audio collection reflects a synthesis of precision sound engineering and minimal design.
“With Soundesign as our guiding ethos, we are focused on delivering headphones that bring together design simplicity and intuitive functionality with precision sound and maximum performance,” stated Markus Diebel, Incase VP of Design. “We are working to carefully balance form and function in the new audio collection because in the end, we want users to enjoy an audio experience with headphones that sound and feel as great as they look.”
The audio collection for Fall 2011 will comprise of four headphone models: Sonic Over Ear, Reflex On Ear, Pivot On Ear and Capsule In Ear. Each model features custom-tuned audio drivers that have been engineered to accurately reproduce the source audio for a natural, balanced response across the entire audio spectrum.
The natural acoustics of Incase headphones are mirrored by their physical design. Specifically designed to match the natural shape of the ear and head, Incase headphones deliver better sound isolation to reduce unwanted external noise. A wide range of adjustment and fully articulating earcups allow virtually anyone to obtain a custom fit. The seamless design uses hidden joints to maintain smooth contours for a low-profile understated appearance while the unique combination of matte soft-touch and gloss finishes offers a subtle visual appeal. In addition, each model features an integrated microphone and remote control for use with Apple devices.
“People are increasingly finding themselves tethered to their devices—at work, at home and at points in between,” said Chris Robinette, Incase VP of Product. “Audio listening and communications coupled with the device protection of our cases and bags delivers a fully integrated mobile experience, making Incase the brand of choice for modern day travelers.”
Incase Audio will release in Fall 2011. Visit the Audio collection page to learn more, follow us on Twitter and become our fan on Facebook to stay informed about Incase Audio.
Ted Leo
Through a unique synthesis of punk and folk, soul and hardcore, traditional Irish
music and off-the-cuff improvisation, Ted Leo writes seamless pop songs that are pleasing to the sugar-craving ear and the intellectually curious mind.
Ted recently visited Room 205 to perform inside of an ever-evolving set conceived by director Jason Farrell and set designer Tamarra Younis.
The Soft Moon at Room 205
The Soft Moon is a San Francisco-based neo-post-punk band influenced by early Bay Area avant-gardists such as Chrome, Units and Minimal Man.
Their cataclysmic delivery makes listeners contemplate the deeper aspects of the primal self through weeping guitar leads, cutting bass lines, haunting vocals, icy synths and motorik beats.
Mix in the mind-bending visuals of band member Ron Robinson and we have one hell of a Room 205 episode.
The Sword In The Stone by Ted Leo
We present the third and final installment of our Room 205 episode with Ted Leo, featuring an impassioned rendition of the seminal track “The Sword In The Stone” from the 2003 EP Tell Balgeary, Balgury Is Dead. From faux-campfire to pseudo-flat, we come full circle with Ted’s last performance in our very real blasted practice space.

We’d like to again thank everyone who had a hand in making this very special episode of Room 205 happen. From brainstorming and building the sets to recording Ted’s performances and editing the “bonus” footage, this was an exceptionally fun, creative session.
Look for a new Room 205 episode with Austra to launch Monday, July 11th.
