Jonas Torvestig x Incase Totes

On Thursday, September 29th, we’re excited to present the opening night reception for the PB&J-approved GIMME SOME traveling exhibition featuring the work of Swedish artist Jonas Torvestig.

For this very special occasion we’ve gone into cahoots with THIS and Torvestig to create 100 limited edition hand-printed all cotton totes.

Come early to snag a bag, stay late to view the work and enjoy DJ sets by Victoria Bergsman and Peter, Bjorn and John, (and just maybe get your bell rung through a combination of tiny amps). Bring earplugs and RSVP.

The Wall by Yuck

The band closes out their Room 205 visit with a fantastically chaotic performance.

Yuck Destroys “The Wall” in Room 205

We present the third and final installment of our Room 205 episode with Yuck, featuring a fantastically chaotic performance of “The Wall“. With tongues planted firmly in cheeks, director Michael Reich and set designer Tamarra Younis turned the space into a “lo-fi CGI” green-screened cube. Thereafter, editor Forrest Borie applied public domain footage of the Berlin Wall. Literal enough? Indeed.

Special thanks goes to Yuck for making this episode of Room 205 possible. Without their deep charms, great tunes, and wonderfully bizarre humor we couldn’t have made it happen. Thanks also to director Michael Reich, set designer Tamarra Younis, audio engineer Butchy Fuego, and Yuck video muse Ariela Marin.

Don’t forget that all Yuck performances as well as those by previously featured artists are available in Room 205. Streaming tracks of Room 205 recordings are also available through Soundcloud.

Milkshake by Yuck

With a standout live performance, Yuck delivers a healthy dose of mellow distortion in their second installment of Room 205.

Yuck Performs “Milkshake” in Room 205

We’re excited to debut Yuck’s second installment of their Room 205 episode with a performance of “Milkshake.” Sweet, but definitely not saccharine, the song opens with a cameo appearance from video muse Ariela Marin, best known for her leading roles in the band’s official videos for “Rubber” and “Get Away”.

Formed just over a year ago, Yuck is a quartet, but sometimes a band of five. Daniel and Max are from London. Mariko is from Hiroshima. Jonny is from New Jersey. Daniel’s sister Ilana joins in for harmonies and occasional live shows. Since the March 2010 release of their debut single “Georgia,” Yuck has been on tour, supporting folks like Teenage Fanclub, Modest Mouse, and Times New Viking.

The vibe of Yuck’s episode is decidedly throwback, with director Michael Reich, editor Forrest Borie and set designer Tamarra Younis mining their deepest inner 90s vibes to transform Room 205 into a quasi-public access TV show, replete with analog television sets, TV test patterns, and the cozy, nostalgic hiss of VHS tape heads.

Picture Perfect: James Mollison

Photographer James Mollison goes on assignment to the Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya to document the lives affected by war, drought and famine for the latest Picture Perfect episode.

Incase Sponsors Portland’s MFNW for 4th-Year In a Row

Portland’s MusicFest Northwest has now come and gone. We are tired. Yes, so very, very tired. Five days of non-stop shows has taken its toll. To get us through we guzzled loads of Stumptown and Extracto coffee. We ripped around visiting friends and searching for battered Japanese guitars. We played with obscure analog synths and weird tube-driven audio equipment. We lurked with the legendary Aaron Draplin and stocked up on Field Notes. And we saw a lot of great shows. So…many…great shows.

And that’s just the short list.

Thanks again to Trevor Solomon, Dan Winters and Fasil Debeb at MFNW. Your friendship and goodwill truly makes this festival one of our favorite events of the year. Thanks again to Deane Sienega and the entire KEXP family. Thanks to all of the performing artists and the extended Portland music community. We love participating in this festival and sincerely look forward to returning next year.

Picture Perfect featuring James Mollison

We are proud to release the fifth and final episode of this season’s Picture Perfect, a brand new photography show dedicated to documenting our favorite photojournalists.

In this episode, Picture Perfect visits James Mollison at his studio in Venice, Italy. Mollison explains the importance of repetition in creating the narratives within his portrait series works, such as his series on the great apes James & Other Apes, which has been widely seen as an exhibition at the Natural History Museum, and Where Children Sleep, his latest book release that originated as a commissioned project for the children’s charity Save the Children.

We then travel with Mollison to the Dadaab Refugee Camp in Kenya, the world’s oldest and largest refugee camp that sits in the desert on the Kenya-Somalia border in the northeast of the country. Built to house 90,000 people, Dadaab now has a population of over 300,000 with 1,300 new refugees arriving every day. Made-up of three camps, Hagadera, Ifo and Dagahaley, the refugees arrive from Ethiopia, Somalia and Sudan and all across the horn of Africa fleeing civil war, drought and famine.

Mollison set out to photograph the huge variety of people that live in the camps, from new arrivals to third generation children. He set up simple backdrops that remove the subjects from the chaos that surrounds them to create striking personal portraits that convey the emotion and life that exists within the sprawl.

A special thank you to Doctors Without Borders, which made our visit to Dadaab possible. Their commitment and tireless dedication has saved hundreds of lives. Do your part to help by donating.

Be sure to checkout our exclusive bonus footage where Mollison recounts the story behind his “found photographs” book, The Memory of Pablo Escobar, a personal look into the life of the most notorious drug dealer in history.

Now Available: Premiere Audio Collection

We are excited to announce that our highly anticipated Audio Collection is now available. Comprised of four headphone models ranging in price from $49.95 to $199.95, the Audio Collection makes its retail debut today in our webstore and soon at Apple Store locations worldwide.

The Audio Collection represents a synthesis of precision sound engineering and minimal design achieved through an approach we call Incase Soundesign. With this as our guiding ethos, we have utilized our expertise in designing and developing products that provide enhanced mobility and user experiences to create headphones that deliver a clean, natural sound that accurately reproduces the source audio.

Natural Sound

Our headphones feature custom-tuned audio drivers engineered to provide a smooth and even response across the entire audio spectrum. The Capsule In Ear model uses custom 8.5mm drivers while the Sonic Over Ear features high-performance 40mm titanium drivers designed to deliver the cleanest, clearest reproduction of your music. Reflex and Pivot On Ear models use large 40mm custom drivers to deliver a consistent and expansive sound spectrum.

Minimal Design

The natural acoustics of Incase headphones are complemented by their physical design, featuring graceful curves and hidden joints for an exceptionally clean look. The seamless designs maintain smooth contours and take into account biomechanics by matching the natural shape of the ear and the head for improved fit and sound isolation to reduce unwanted external noise. The full range of headphones maintains an understated elegance reinforced by the use of a tactile soft-touch matte finish for a subtle, refined appearance.

Custom Fit

Comfort and fit are also top considerations in the design and material selection. In addition to enhancing the physical design, the hidden joints employed in the Sonic, Reflex and Pivot models provide a wide range of adjustment to allow for the perfect personal fit. The Sonic model utilizes suede covered memory foam earcups, which reduce pressure points and provide superior comfort. The Capsule headphones feature an oval cross section to match the shape of the human ear canal for improved fit, comfort and sound isolation and come packaged with three pairs of silicone eartips in different sizes.

Connected Control

Every pair of Incase headphones features a built in microphone and remote that works with iPhone, iPad and iPod. With both listening and communications capabilities, Incase headphones simplify travel needs and further our goal of delivering a fully integrated mobile experience.

More details about Incase Audio can be found on the Audio Collection page.
