On July 2nd, red dot invited all recipients of the red dot award: product design 2012 to a gala, followed by Designers’ Night at the red dot design museum. Since we didn’t have suits for the award ceremony (!), we attended Designers’ Night where all award-winning products are on display, including our Sonic headphones. Located in the former boiler house of the Zollverein mine in Germany, the museum was redesigned by British architect Norman Foster of Thames Bank in the Bauhaus style.
It was a great evening filled with DJs, good food and designers from all over the world in a magnificent setting. We are so proud to know that our Sonic headphones were chosen as a red dot award recipient from a field of entrants from 58 countries, 1800 companies and 4500 registrations. The evening’s celebration put an exclamation mark on our elation to have received this prestigious award. Thank you, red dot!
This past Friday THIS los angeles hosted the opening night for The Sun Below The Ceiling, the new solo exhibit from conceptual sculpture artist Jon Rajkovich.
For the occasion we worked with Rajkovich and THIS gallery co-owner Justin Van Hoy to create 100 limited-edition, custom cut & colored totes. If you like collectable totes and highly abstract sculpture art, then Rajkovich’s bag and our bag will probably be your bag.
Thanks again to everyone who came out to the opening. Extra special thanks to THIS Los Angeles. The Rajkovich exhibit runs at THIS from July 20—August 18th, 2012. Enjoy the short photo recap.
Way, way back on Friday, June 15th, THIS los angeles hosted the opening night for Stalker, the new solo exhibit from artist Lisa Solberg. For the occasion we worked with Solberg and THIS gallery co-owner Justin Van Hoy to create 100 limited-edition, custom cut & colored blood red totes, (a fitting accompaniment to the silver mind jail Solberg painstakingly crafted for the show).
Delighted to say all 100 totes were swooped with a quickness. Thanks again to everyone who came out on opening night, Solberg’s art offers a true brain cave. Special thanks to THIS los angeles, Aaron Farley, Justin Van Hoy and Claire & Jeremy Weiss for making the show possible.
So what did the 8th Annual Pitchfork Music Festival look and sound like, you ask? Well, this year we experienced a bit of everything; rain, thunder, lightning, 87-degree heat and humidity, dozens of food vendors, scores of indie labels and poster artists.
Three stages, and nearly 60,000 wet n’ sweaty music lovers wilding out for three days…all howling along to their favorite artists, (including standout performances from Ty Segall, Thee Oh Sees, Beach House, Real Estate, The Field, King Krule, and a triumphantly reunited Chavez!). Thanks Chicago, we’ll see you again next year. Yes, we took lots of photos.
In fall 2011, LA-based audio engineer Manny Nieto (Mars Volta, GVSB, Retox, etc…) went on a recording trip through China and SE Asia.
A few days prior to departure we provided him a few Incase bags for his MacBook rig and microphones. Originally he was only supposed to be gone 3 months. Instead he spent 9 months on the road…recording and traveling every day with our bags.
Check out how Manny is using his Incase pack to rig a makeshift mic stand while recording an opera singer.
Manny returns to China next month to resume recording. Safe Travels Manny!
