How to Fit a BMX Bike in Your Messenger Bag

As part of our sponsorship of the 2009 Bicycle Film Festival, we gave our Courier Collection Skate Messenger Bag to Hernan Montenegro, the winner of the Los Angeles alleycat race. Here he is receiving his prize:

Last week marked the launch of the first in a series of videos entitled Bridging the Gap. The first video features Hern riding his track bike through the streets of LA with his BMX bike stuffed and strapped into the Skate Messenger Bag (we told you this bag was roomy). The video, directed by Joseph Lobato, also features beautifully shot footage of Hern pulling off some impressive tricks once he reaches his destination.

And because this week is all about our Courier Collection, be sure to sure to read this very thorough review of our Skate Messenger Bag on Prolly is not Probably.

Inside Evan Hecox’s Studio

Get an inside look at Evan Hecox’s creative process. This video was shot in his Denver studio, where he created the artwork for the Curated by Arkitip project.

Filmed and edited by Felipe Lima. The music is a track called “Yerba Buena Bump” by Tommy Guerrero from his new album titled “Lifeboats and Follies” to be released on Galaxia Records in Spring 2010.

FYF & Videothing.com Showcase

Soooooooooo…. about a month ago we sponsored FYF Fest Production’s CMJ showcase at Cake Shop in New York. Crystal Antlers. Male Bonding. Let’s Wrestle. Ninjasonik. As part of our sweet coverage of the showcase, we also sponsored Michael Reich’s (a/k/a Videothing.com) documentation of the night.

Per usual, Reich captured all the fearsome fun. From the footage you’ll gather it was a real sweat lodge. Go to videothing to see his frequent video coverage of underground shows happening all over the US.

André’s Paris

With each installment of Curated by Arkitip, we create a video to provide viewers a look into the inspiration behind the artistry. Directed by Felipe Lima, the André video is a slight departure from our previous artist features. Rather than use words, André has chosen to tour us through a typical day in Paris and let the city that inspires him speak for itself.

The visuals are complemented by a passage from Le Paysan de Paris (Paris Peasant) by Louis Aragon, one of André’s favorite authors, read by actress and singer Adele Jacques. The accompanying music, an original arrangement of Serge Gainsbourg’s “L’alcool”, is performed by Matthew Banks and also draws from André’s tastes.

Everything Else

We had the chance to document Paul on the road, traveling to the Boston stop of the Dew Tour. Check out the video to get an inside look at a day in the life of P-Rod.

Paul Rodriguez in Street Dreams

Street Dreams

If you been following Roby Drydek’s Fantasy Factory on MTV, you probably already know that there’s a new movie coming out on June 12th called Street Dreams starring Paul Rodriguez.

Street Dreams Dudes

The movie is about
Derrick Cabrera, like all skateboarders, dreams of being sponsored one day. He
has all the talent in the world to make it happen but some major roadblocks to overcome before he can make the dream a reality. He is receiving pressure from all sides, his parents are stressing him because he is failing in school, his girlfriend thinks he is a loser, his best friend has become his rival because he is better than him. Things come to a head after Derrick gets arrested and a fight ensues with his father resulting in him running away from home. He does the only thing he knows how to do and opts to follow his dream to the Tampa Am contest, one of the only ways an unknown skater can get noticed.

Here’s an exclusive clip in which Paul talks about his involvement in the film.
