Incase x Ace Hotel // 660-2129
Ace Hotel co-founder Alex Calderwood discusses the unique design aesthetic of Ace Hotels and how that influenced the collaboration with Incase.
Introducing Incase for Ace Hotel
We are proud to debut our latest collaboration with Ace Hotel, featuring a capsule collection of travel and technology accessories for Fall 2011. Inspired by classic flight jackets, the five-piece collection includes a Duffel Bag, Shoulder Bag, 15” Sleeve, Portfolio for iPad 2 and Snap Case for iPhone 4.
“Incase knows travel, so they’re a natural partner for us,” says Alex Calderwood, co-founder of Ace Hotel. “This collection is the result of another great tandem effort, integrating Ace’s design sensibility with Incase’s expertise.”
Designed for those who appreciate the virtues of both the digital and the analogue, the Incase for Ace Hotel Collection protects personal technology with classic time-tested materials. Constructed of durable Martexin Original Wax textiles, the items in the collection have a seasoned character designed to age expressively. Oversized zippers, satin-finish seatbelt webbing straps and a pop of orange in the interior complement a look reminiscent of vintage military-issue gear.
Evincing Ace’s rustic urban aesthetic and Incase’s minimalist approach, the collection embodies the marriage of industrial design and reliable functionality.
“Working with Ace Hotel has been a fantastic experience that has allowed us to bring together two distinct points of view in one collection,” says Damon Way, Incase Chief Brand Officer. “We’re excited to align our brands through this collection and bring Incase to unique travel destinations and the culturally progressive individuals that frequent Ace Hotels.”
The Incase for Ace Hotel Collection is exclusive to Ace Hotel New York through September with availability to follow at all Ace Hotel locations and our webstore in October.
THIS is ACE! Opening Night Reception
This Friday night, August 12th, our friends at THIS los angeles will curate their first remote event at the new ACE Hotel gallery space in New York City. To commemorate this auspicious occasion we’ve created 100 limited-edition cotton canvas totes. First come, first served. Arrive early to grab a snazzy bag, stay late and maybe bag a fancy babe. Whooooaaaa! Here’s THIS los angeles co-curator Justin Van Hoy with a few choice words about the event:
“THIS los angeles presents it’s first out-of-Los Angeles gallery experience at The ACE New York. We normally don’t like to leave our little neck of the woods in LA, but The ACE is worthy of the trip. 25 of our favorite creative friends will be exhibited until the end of the month at the hotel”.
“How is that?”
Perfect.

We hope to see you there.
