Instagram is absolutely great, you take a photo, apply one of many filters (if you desire) and share it with friends. That’s all there is too it. Sure you can also instantly upload it to a bunch of social platforms such as Twitter, Flickr, Tumblr and etc. But the real juice is inside the app, browsing through thousands of photos that people have shot.

A lot of people at the Incase office (and our friends at Day19) are already using Instagram so we decided it was time to to set up an official “goincase” account. So now you can follow us with Instagram for iPhone! You’ll get to see exclusive snapshots from in and around our office, and what goes on behind the scenes. Our second free iPhone app is now available in the App Store on iTunes. The Incase App brings all the latest news and content from goincase.com directly to your iPhone and iPod touch in an easy-to-read/navigate format.

In addition to news and content found on goincase.com, Incase App users will receive access to exclusive photos and video content and will be notified first about events, giveaways and more.

Try it out and let us know what you think. Feel free to give us suggestions about what we should include in the next update.

(And iPad users, we haven’t forgot you–we’re working on a version for your device too.)

For this week’s featured app, we take a look at Layers for iPad, a brilliant app that lets you sketch and paint on your iPad and even draw on photos.

World-renowned architect Ron Radziner, who is currently featured in our iPad campaign, uses it daily to sketch out ideas. Here’s what he had to say about it:

When people ask me for advice on how to become an architect, I always recommend life drawing. Sketching the human form involves proportion, structure and shading, all of which are fundamental aspects of architecture. Things like iPad and Layers start to change this, when you can draw on the screen.

Even if you’re not an architect, you can still use Layers to draw on photos or paint masterpieces, no matter where you are.

Our Web Designer, Nic, subscribes to a ton of sites and loves reading their RSS feeds via an awesome iPhone app called Reeder. Here are his 10 reasons why it rules.

Syncs with Google Reader.
Ability to use offline.
Caches images for offline reading.
Rich yet very unobtrusive UI.
Customizable services panels (save to Delicious, Twitter, Instapaper, etc).
Ability to read a post with Instapaper or Google mobilizer for a cleaner, simplified experience.
You can tell it how far back you want it to sync, days or months.
When I get into the office from my commute into the city, Google Reader is all synced.
To mark an item as read in list view, you just slide it to the right. Sliding it to the left stars it.
When reading a post, you can either flip to the post before or after or use the next or previous buttons.

A bunch of us in the Incase office have been hooked on Gowalla for a while now. Hands down the best location-based social networking game out there.
