Introducing HunterGatherer for Curated by Arkitip
Today we launch the latest installment of the Curated by Arkitip project with New York-based HunterGatherer. The brainchild of Todd St. John, HunterGatherer is an award-winning design, illustration, animation and production studio.
St. John and frequent HunterGatherer collaborator Gary Benzel created the woodgrain pattern and have applied it to products ranging from furniture to skateboard decks. The signature design has been reintroduced for Curated by Arkitip, ornamenting two of our own signature products: the MacBook Sleeve and iPhone Slider Case.
HunterGatherer is known for its spare, but inventive projects, often combining experimental and hand-built techniques with more complex methods. Since 2000, HunterGatherer has stayed decidedly small, focusing on a limited number of assignments across a wide range of mediums. The HunterGatherer products for Curated by Arkitip add to the studio’s body of work, which include a number of animation projects for clients such as Nike, VH1 and The New York Times T: Magazine, as well as ongoing work for New York City’s green initiative, GreeNYC.
The HunterGatherer 15” Sleeve for MacBook Pro and HunterGatherer Slider Case for iPhone 3G S and iPhone 3G are available today in our webstore and arkitip.com with availability following shortly in select Apple retail stores and better boutiques.
To learn more about the project, watch the video featuring interviews with HunterGatherer artists Todd St. John and Gary Benzel.

First look at HunterGatherer for Curated by Arkitip

The fourth installment of Curated by Arkitip features work by New York-based HunterGatherer.
HunterGatherer was founded in 2000 by Todd St. John as a way to bring projects ranging from product design to animation all under one roof. Since then, the studio has become internationally known for its inventiveness and distinctive fusing of hand-built and high-end techniques, creating influential work for everyone from MTV to the New York Times.
The woodgrain-inspired products for Incase are based on a design collaboration between St. John and Gary Benzel, a frequent HunterGatherer collaborator. Be on the look out for more information about our project with HunterGatherer. Products will be available on June 23.

Now Available: Steven Harrington for Curated by Arkitip
The third installment of Curated by Arkitip launches today with Steven Harrington. The Los Angeles based artist, who has received international recognition for his commercial and self-inspired art projects, created the custom design featured on the Steven Harrington Sleeve for MacBook Pro 15″ and Slider Case for iPhone 3G, both available today.
Harrington’s print work for Curated by Arkitip is representative of his signature aesthetic, incorporating a multiplicty of colorful patterns symbolic of connectivity and community. His designs are often times created from past experiences and childhood memories in addition to influence from Time-Life Encyclopedias 1965-1972, thrift stores and the 60s pysch sounds of The Moody Blues. Harrington leaves his work open for personal interpretation, infusing tangible objects that people can relate to like a photograph or memory.
The Steven Harrington Sleeve for MacBook Pro 15” and Slider Case for iPhone 3G are available now in our webstore and Arkitip and later this month at select Apple retail stores.

Curated by Arktip Preview: Steven Harrington

Original artwork from Los Angeles artist Steven Harrington is featured in the third installment of the Curated by Arkitip series.
Influenced by Time-Life Encyclopedias 1965-1972, thrift stores and the 60s pysch sounds of The Moody Blues, his art might be termed “contextual objectivism”. That is, each piece is created as a tangible object symbiotically defined of a larger context.
The Steven Harrington products will be available early February.
