Hearts of Darknesses Homecoming Celebration

We attended the official Girltalk afterparty / Hearts of Darknesses homecoming celebration at Santos Party House in NYC on Tuesday night. Hosted by ragtag group of fellas Bulldozier and our favorite party dude Andrew WK, with sets by Grand Buffet, CX Kidtronik, The Death Set, Hearts Of Darknesses, Passions and hip-hop / performance artist Bad Brilliance (holy shit!), the night just made us feel all warm and fuzzy.

WTF

It was a party thrown by deeply individual friends working extremely hard to help each other out. We danced so hard we’re STILL sore! Andrew WK took to the stage in between sets to throw out Incase products to an eager crowd. We saw a guy rocking the slim backpack all night after he dove over a couple of girls to catch it.

We also witnessed HOD unloading their guitars from the Incase guitar cases we gave them a few weeks ago for tour to play a SOLID set. They are still stoked on the cases – Frank especially because he doesn’t have to carry his pedals in a milk crate anymore – everything fits into his guitar bag.

All in all, it was a great, sweaty night among friends.

Sleep Be Damned for Hearts of Darknesses

On stage

When we last spoke to Hearts of Darknesses, they had just driven from Reno, NV to St. Louis, MO in one straight shift to make a Halloween show at Washington University. 1,842 mi, 26 hours. They were pretty delirious, but there’s no stopping this journey: HOD will continue to spread dark 80s punk rock new wave grooves to teenage girls smoking cigarettes in parking lots all across America, sleep be damned.

Nerding

They sent over some hilarious photos from the Southern leg of the tour. More crazyness on their Myspace page.

Stay safe boys!

Hearts of Darknesses and Girl Talk in LA

Crowd Chaos

As we mentioned, NYC-based Hearts of Darknesses are currently on tour with Girl Talk, every teenager’s favorite remix/smash up artist.

Partydawgz

On Friday, October 24th, the bands rolled through Los Angeles’ Henry Fonda Theater. In a word, the show was chaos. Picture gigantic cannons shooting toiletpaper streamers, screaming/sweating kids running around (many wearing leg warmers, short-shorts and headbands), hundreds of water bottle fights, security guards losing their cool, Girl Talk’s Gregg Gilles pressing “PLAY,” Hearts of Darknesses playing 80s-inspired dark wave jams to give you nightmares, Grand Buffet stomping around on stage, posin’ and rappin’ ’bout food…

Doh

All in all, it was nice. Real weird, sure, but nice. Enjoy the photos!

Introducing: Hearts of Darknesses

Hearts of Darknessess

When NYC-based band Hearts of Darknesses got invited to open up for their good friend Gregg Gillis aka Girltalk on the first leg of his fall tour, their first thought was YES, followed by “how can we afford it when gas is so high and we have no tour support?!” Incase to the rescue. In addition to giving HOD $1000 in gas cards to make life easier on the road, we also provided Incase product to the entire band to protect their gear: notebook cases, iPhone + iPod cases and guitar bags.

Hard Shell

The band stopped by the Drillteam office in NYC on Thursday October 9 before heading out on tour (first stop Philly) to pick up their Incase gear (and gas allowance)!

Hearts of Darkness Sleeve

It wasn’t long before they customized one of the 15″ Slim Sleeve.

Hearts of Darknesses is the solo project of electronic music producer Frank Musarra, with help on the road from Shawn Lovejoy, Mike Fischer and Craig Dempsey. Check out tour dates and HOD music on the band’s Myspace page and continue to watch the Incase blog, and the HOD Flickr set for more updates from the road!
