Not Drowning, Waving! Swimming With Sharks 2010 Grand Finale

 title=

The annual Swimming With Sharks summer pool parties atop the Standard Hotel in stunning downtown Los Angeles came to a rip roaring close on Saturday, September 4th. It is now definitely, definitely over. No more DJ battles. No more bikini clad funsters. No more epically corny Jello shots. No more awkward tattoos. No more gentle but firm bouncers. No more absurd games or awesome Incase prizes. No more lazy Saturdays slothing the day away atop the roof of one of LA’s most iconic hotels. Saddest of all, no more waffles in the downstairs diner after a dip in the pool. Sigh.

Why has it taken us so long to post this recap? Man, that is such a good question. Well, as you may recall, FYF Fest and SWSharks #8 happened on the same day about a mile apart from each other. And then there were the FYF Fest after parties to contend with all weekend. Total insanity. And then we jumped on a plane to Portland to help out at MFNW. And then…. Et cetera…. It’s been a busy end of summer.

Thanks again to Mahtab, James and Matt at MFG Productions for making SWSharks possible this summer. We couldn’t have lurked this hard without you. Moreover, thanks to everyone who came to the pool parties. If you’re into heavy bass, spastic splashing, and semi-bad behavior, we hope to see you again next season. Check the photos of the grand finale. Be safe, have fun. We’ll meet you at the escalators in the lobby.

Splashing and Spazzing Out with Wet Hot People

Man, it’s h-o-t outside. Like, real hot. Word from the weatherman says it isn’t gonna let up any time soon either. So here’s an idea: On Saturday, August 28th maybe you oughta slide into your swimming skivvies and saunter on down to the Standard Hotel in radiantly beautiful downtown Los Angeles.

But don’t forget to RSVP. A whole lotta overheated party people are gonna be all over that rsvp list like red on a sunburn if you don’t jump on it first. Seriously, rsvp and then go get in that pool. With a heat wave like this people are gonna be losing their minds. As always, you bring the sunscreen and we’ll bring the Incase Snap Cases for your iPhone 3GS.

Relax, Take a Load Off! Swimming With Sharks 6

Man, we’ve been busy over here. Music festivals, pool parties, photo shows, pizza fights, naps in cubicles, dinnering, coffee guzzles, block parties, dune buggies, recording studios, poison oak, lazy skateboarding, lazier bike rides, and—believe it or not—actual carpentry. This summer is a blur.

So how was Swimming With Sharks pool party # 6? Oh thanks, I’m so glad you asked! Per usual, it was ripping. Blazing sun? Check. Snap cases? Totally. Squealing? Definitely. Splashing? Of course. Dancing and DJs? Done and done! Please join us August 21st and September 4th for SWSharks # 7 & 8.

Swimming With Sharks #5

Hard to believe but this past Saturday marked Swimming With Sharks pool party #5. Get a gander at the photos.

The Jaws of Life! Swimming With Sharks #5

 title=

Hard to believe but this past Saturday marked Swimming With Sharks pool party #5. Who dj’d? Well, DJ YNot?, dudes from Local Natives, and folks from IAMSOUND. What happened? Oh you know, dancing, guzzling, tripping, flossing, running, splashing, spazzing, sunning, scratching, rubbing, tugging, giving the lurk, and getting the fade.

 title=

Ah yes, the easy breezy days of summer spent carousing around the rooftop pool sky high at the Standard Hotel. Where? In mind crushingly beautiful downtown Los Angeles, that’s where. Does it get any better than this? Maybe. Join us at SWSharks #6 on Saturday, August 7th to find out.

In the meantime, go here to get a gander at the photos of our guest photographer Baby Kelley. As always, you bring the short-shorts and we’ll bring the cases for you iPhone.

Swimming with Sharks #4 Recap

 title=

According to MFG Productions mastermind James Outlaw (yes, that’s his real name), the July 3rd installment of the Swimming With Sharks pool party showcased the selector skills of Chris Haycock, Jamie Strong and Mike B (from The Do Over), as well as the Hardy Boyz, Lloydski, Eli Escobar, and Blu Jemz (as team ‘No Way Back’). That’s seven DJs all in from NYC. Was it a DJ battle? Yes. More than that, was it a party? It was.

Enjoy the photos. We hope to see you at Swimming With Sharks #5. Remember to bring your fanciest attitudes, your iPhones, and your finest summer attire. We’ll bring the Incase cases.

Swimming With Sharks, Summer Splash 2010

If you’re a lover of all things light, high and tight, MFG’s Swimming With Sharks might just be your summer bag. On back to back weekends, pool parties #2 & #3 went off without a hitch. Lots of uber babes, jello cubes, beefy dudes, and easy breezy attitudes. And bangers. Lots and lots of bangers. And free Incase iPhone cases. So many iPhone cases. Photos? Right here.

All summer long, it’s just gonna keep on keeping on…and on…and on…. Party sharks circling the waters of the Standard Downtown’s rooftop pool… Bikinis and beats. Sunglasses and SPF 70. Serious pedicures. Flowing frocks and six inch heels. Classy shade hats and lip gloss. iPhones at the ready, thumbs gone wild.

Swimming With Sharks #4 happens this Saturday, July 3rd . RSVP MFG recommended. We hope to see you there.

Swimming With Sharks #2 Was a Blast

 title=

With sets by MAD DECENT’s Paul Devro and Erik Devereux, this past weekend’s Swimming With Sharks pool party at the Standard Hotel Downtown was hectic fun. Squirt guns? Yes. Bikinis? Definitely. Crisp Starter caps? Totally. Piles of guest DJs and hellaciously beat blasting lurker bees? Yes. Flip flops? As always. Guzzlebots? For sure. Digital cameras? Several. Dancing? Mega.

 title=

Highlight of the day? Probz the secret guest set by infamous DJ Rusko. His unexpected talk box-meets-dubstep shenanigans was pretty much a total jaw dropper. Incase was on deck lending a hand to the mayhem and gifting cases for your iPhones. Per usual, PEEPS WAS PUMPED! :) Summer is here. We hope you’ll join us in two weeks at the next SWSharks, June 26th. Until then, have fun, be safe, drink water!

UPDATE: Moving pictures!

Swimming with Sharks Opening Event Recap

 title=

Well, well, well… It has been a very long hot 3-day Memorial Holiday. Between all the weddings, BBQs, soccer games, oil spills, and late night movies, it is now time to recall the wet n’ wild spazzfest that kicked off our whole weekend— Swimming With Sharks.

 title=

Given the packed response to their opening event, we’d say Matt Goldman & James Rockwell at MFG Productions are poised to outdo themselves. Forget the beach and Hollywood, their Standard Hotel rooftop pool party in DAZZLINGLY SUBLIME Downtown Los Angeles was the place to be on Saturday afternoon. Did people hotly bop around in bikinis and banana hammocks? Yes. Were squirt-guns present? Of course. Was an ex-girlfriend (or twenty) getting all vibey? For real. Did folks wear designer shades? You know it. Was Boxed Water guzzled? Absolutely. Were half a dozen photographers on hand making everyone “Internet famous?” Mega. Did international guest DJs blast tracks at 192 bpm and then some? Wonderfully so. Did party dawgs go bonkers for their new Incase Snap Cases for iPhone? Totally, dude.

On select Saturdays all summer long, from 1PM to sundown, we’ll be doing our part to help folks have a bit of summer fun. As always, you bring the sunscreen, flippy floppies, and spastic splashing, and we’ll bring the protection for your iPhones. Check back here, our Facebook page or go to danceright.net to stay up to date on upcoming events. AND DON’T FORGET TO RSVP! We hope to see you there.
