Evan Hecox

Evan Hecox is an artist and designer whose work captures the essence of urban environments. Fascinated with the complexity of the urban landscape and people in mundane surroundings who are normally overlooked, his art depicts city scenes that are almost cinematic in their stark contrast and abstraction.

Like snapshots or filmstrips, Hecox's work encapsulates the everyday existence of average people as they traverse the modern metropolis. This stylistic approach is based on the process of amplification as it affects form and color, breaking down the image, removing certain elements and emphasizing others.

Characterized by a unique and instantly recognizable aesthetic, his work has been exhibited in galleries worldwide, including Los Angeles, Sydney, London and Tokyo. Hecox lives and works in Colorado.
