About Rob Hornstra
An advocate for "slow journalism", Netherlands based documentary photographer Rob Hornstra produces work over long periods of time, involving himself in the changes that occur over the breadth of years. His work is characterized by a stylized rawness, with a large dose of intrinsic engagement. Hornstra has published five books: Empty Land/ Promised Land/ Forbidden Land, On the Other Side of the Mountains, 101 Billionaires, Roots of the Rúntur, and Communism & Cowgirls. He was the 2007 winner of the GD4ART international photography competition, and his work has been exhibited in the Netherlands and internationally.
