Eh, I'm not too sure.
I agree with Tip about 150%. Why market a messenger bag, call it a 'Skate Messenger bag', but show pictures of bike-lock straps and all the functions of how it works with bike parts, but no pictures or video of it holding a board? Whatever the case, the bag gets a four for being very well put together and hopefully we'll see some update footage of the usage of this bag for a skateboard!
Ergonomics are worth the price
The biggest difference with other bags are the excellent ergonomics (after adjusting the various straps). My old bag would start to bother me after walking a few blocks, but I feel like I could walk or stand all day with this bag without noticing it.
The bag is a bit larger than I needed, but this provides plenty of room for a light jacket and cap and the internal zip pockets will fit any size macbook, headphones and laptop lock and power supply nicely.
A version without the skate straps would be nice for those of us that just want a bag with good ergonomics that can hold a 17" macbook.
Day One
I received my bag today and I have to say that the first impression was really amazing. Setting up the bag was a bit of a task but it forced me to get the now the operations of the bag better. The rip cord or whatever it is called in the front is a pretty amazing device and works brilliantly. I really like the bag a lot and look forward to breaking it in. My only concern is that a 17" laptop makes the bag really stiff, but that would be a really tough challenge to fix in a messenger bag. I was concerned that the cost was too high for such a simple bag, however the cost is more than justified in the amount of detail that was put into it.
tip
Its great that this is marketed toward skating and bicycle riding, but this bag seems as though it is primarily designed for bike couriers. Why does skate come first in the name when there is really only a single option for skateboards while the rest of the bag it designed towards messengers? I think a huge mistake was made by not showing the product on a person. This leaves many consumers questioning whether or not it's compatible with them. This may have industrial design aesthetics, but most industrial designers would agree that the way it is marketed is confusing. Regardless of this comment, I really do appreciate the design of this bag. The features are very appealing. I am sold.
more details please
since this is marketed as a skate bag, why no photos with a skateboard attached? in the video, we don't see him close the flap over the wheels. hard to imagine that not being clumsy. would like to see that before dropping $220 on a bag. thanks!
