Rubber by Yuck

For this episode of Room 205 director Michael Reich, editor Forrest Borie, and set designer Tamarra Younis mined deep 90s vibes to film indie guitar rock acolytes Yuck (think Sonic Youth, Twin Peaks, etc). Having already worked with Reich, Yuck and video muse Ariela Marin (reprising her roles as a dog groomer and diaper-clad backup dancer), knew they were in for a weird one: 90s public access TV + homemade green-screens + VHS tape = The Wayne’s World-ification of Yuck. Enjoy.

Formed just over a year ago, Yuck is a quartet, but sometimes a band of five. Daniel and Max are from London. Mariko is from Hiroshima. Jonny is from New Jersey. Daniel’s sister Ilana joins in for occasional live shows. Since the March 2010 release of their debut single "Georgia," Yuck has been on tour, supporting folks like Teenage Fanclub, Modest Mouse, and Times New Viking. As well, they’ve recently had their cathartic guitar dirge "Rubber" remixed by Mogwai, (and it is rad!). Yuck self-produced and recorded their debut album at home, released February 2011 on Fat Possum. All in all, pretty epic.
